Happy New Year everyone.

I know... you all haven’t really heard from me in a long time. I am sorry about that.

It has been a very long year filled with so much stress, fear, anxiety, uncertainty... you name it. For some, there was a lot of loss, and I truly wish them the best and hope for a much better year this year. And even for those who didn’t suffer too terribly this year, please try to make this year much better than the last.

As per tradition, so many people decide on a new year’s resolution to try and accomplish for the year. In most circumstances it is something simple like, exercising more, eating healthier, etc. And there is certainly nothing wrong with those types of goals. I praise you for your amazing resolves. Which leads to my resolve, which may lead to much longer than a single years process.

This past year.... no... certainly a lot longer than I would like to admit... I have been battling depression which in turn has led me to also battle anxiety. I have always been very shy, awkward and reserved and I can’t imagine that ever truly changing. I have become untrusting of others. I am much more comfortable at my own home rather than other people’s homes.

Even though I have forgiven so much, my mind still falls back to past events that have caused me some sort of grief. And over time, I have abandoned old bonds... afraid to further pursue them. I became so out of the loop and naive that even conversations I have with others now go right over my head and I have a hard time relating. I feel so disconnected even when I try and then have a hard time joining in or even sharing stuff about me without feeling annoying or embarrassed. I am extremely hard on myself and I always have been. And I too have always held back how I truly feel for the sake of others and also because I had a hard time believing that myself or my feelings really matter to anyone. Then over time... I think I have truly lost touch and forgotten who I am.... the things I loved... the passion.... the desire.... they were just... gone. All gone. I was truly in despair.

Over time, I realized my depression had finally gotten to a point where normal approaches couldn’t fix it. The built up rage and distress. No motivation for anything. Wanting absolutely nothing to do with anyone. So many tears. Missing out on the happiness I should have been feeling but wasn’t. And despite so much fear, I finally sought out medical help for my chemical imbalance and got on medicine thanks to some helpful pushes in the right direction from my loved ones.

The medicine is definitely helping slowly but surely and I will admit I still have such a long way to go. And that is why my New Years Resolution will be...

To Be better to myself.

This is a very complicated resolution... for there is a lot to do to get better. Steps could include the following...

-try to exercise more
-try to eat better
-try to communicate and reach out better
-try to spend time with friends more
-pamper myself by
     -drawing things I want to draw
     - play a video game
     - bake because I want to
     -read because I want to

There is so much that can contribute to my resolution and of course there will be no system put into place to restrict my actions so I don’t feel forced either as that is bound to burn me out. I will take it one day at a time, pushing myself a little in the beginning. But I would appreciate any help I can get from my friends and loved ones with achieving my goal. Because as much as I would love to accomplish this on my own... that would be impossible and destroy the point. I hope I can learn to lean on you guys a bit better.... and I hope that you can help me with my dream to get better.
